Her photographic career started in 1953 when she joined Magnum Photos as an assistant to Henri Cartier-Bresson. At Magnum she worked closely with Robert Capa and soon became known for her portraits of artists at work and for her images of the European and Asian landscapes. In addition to being the recipient of numerous photographic awards, Morath published many books, including some in collaboration with her husband, playwright Arthur Miller.
