This is delightful, unpretentious work written before color photography made its way into the world of art books. As such, the author simply and eloquently writes about the painter from the heart about this simple soul and great artist. Interesting to speculate how many works of the friar are laying about in the marginalia of manuscripts that have not been identified and willl they ever be attributed to the friar, but it is safe to assume that he would not care. A nice introduction to the way the viewing public qt one time did observe and appreciate art.
